PHILLIPS – Aiden Janke scored 21 points and hauled down 12 rebounds as the Athens boys basketball team defeated Phillips 69-31 in a Marawood Conference North Division game Tuesday at Phillips High School.
Athens held a slim 27-24 lead at halftime before busting the game open with a dominant second half, outscoring the Loggers 42-7 over the final 18 minutes.
Cooper Diedrich added 13 points and eight rebounds, and Connor Sheahan chipped in 11 points in the win for the Bluejays, who are now 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the Marawood North.
Phillips falls to 1-6 overall and 0-5 in Marawood North play.
Athens plays at Thorp on Dec. 28.
