ATHENS BOYS BASKETBALL CRUISES PAST ABBOTSFORD

ABBOTSFORD – The Athens boys basketball team won its sixth game in a row, rolling past Abbotsford 73-26 in a Marawood Conference North Division game Thursday at Abbotsford High School.


The Bluejays are now 9-2 overall and 4-2 in the Marawood North, while Abbotsford drops to 3-7 and 1-5 in the conference.


Cooper Diedrich scored 19 points, and Aiden Janke had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Athens in the win.


Nathan Wolf chipped in 11 points and six rebounds, and Connor Komarek had 10 points as well for the Bluejays.


Abbotsford jumps right back into action Friday with a Marawood crossover game at Stratford and hosts Colby for a nonconference game on Monday.


Athens plays a Marawood North game at Chequamegon in Park Falls on Tuesday.
