ASSUMPTION SOFTBALL TOPS ATHENS FOR 11TH WIN IN A ROW

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Cristin Casey went 4-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs to help the Wisconsin Rapids Assumption softball team to a 7-2 win over Athens on Friday at Robinson Park.

Claire Nelson added a double and two RBI for the Royals, who are now 11-0 this season.

Macy Vollert struck out two in four innings to earn the win, and Ava Schill came in to finish off the win and earn the save, striking out three in the final three innings.

Siarra Hart and Celina Ellenbecker each had two hits for Athens (7-3).

Assumption plays Poynette and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau at Poynette on Saturday. Athens will compete at the Gilman/Thorp Slamfest on Saturday.
