ASSUMPTION SOCCER BLASTS ADAMS-FRIENDSHIP, MAUSTON TO REMAIN UNBEATEN

ADAMS – Wisconsin Rapids Assumption poured it on early and often in a pair of games Saturday, defeating Mauston and Adams-Friendship by identical 10-0 scores in Mid-Western Wisconsin Soccer Conference action.


Assumption is now 6-0-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play with three games remaining. The Royals host Melrose-Mindoro at 6 p.m. Monday at Washington School Field.


Izzy Jungwirth had a hat trick, and Kendall Duellman and Clara Kubis each scored twice for the Royals against Adams-Friendship.


Assumption outshot the Green Devils 33-5, with goalkeeper Kate Eithun making six saves, two on penalty kicks.


Sadie Donahue, Kayla Kerkman and Bre Sullivan added goals in the victory.


Assumption was even more dominant against Mauston, owning a 39-1 shot advantage.


Kubis had five goals and Grace Dolan had two scores for the Royals. Kerkman, Eithun and Donahue added goals in the victory.


“After a 30-minute break between games, the Royals did not let up,” Assumption coach Jim Wendels said. “The defense, led by Maria Hartley, did not allow any goals. Multiple team members contributed in scoring, which was backed up by excellent passing.”
