ASSUMPTION SOCCER BLANKS AMHERST, STAYS UNDEFEATED

AMHERST – Kendall Duellman scored in the opening minute and the Assumption girls soccer team went on to shut out Amherst 7-0 in a Mid-Western Wisconsin Conference matchup Friday at Amherst High School.
Assumption is now 17-0 overall and 12-0 in the MWWC to clinch no worse than a share of the conference title.
Sarah Shaw had a hat trick, Duellman added another goal and two assists, and Kayla Kerkman and Mally Steinle both added goals for the Royals.
Morgan Reichl had 12 saves in goal for Assumption.
“We came out very focused on this game tonight and scored in less than one minute to set the tone for the game,” Assumption coach Jim Wendels said. “The effort and attitude was off the charts and they played with a smile and let the game come to them.”
Assumption plays at Wautoma on Monday.
