ASSUMPTION GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUTS NORTHLAND LUTHERAN

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Assumption girls basketball team won its third-straight game to start the season, taking care of Northland Lutheran 78-47 in a semifinal at the Cranberry Classic on Friday afternoon at Assumption High School.


Ainara Sainz de Rozas scored 17 points, Abbi Vollert added 16, and Anna Schooley had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Royals (3-0).


Assumption dominated from the start, cruising out to a 40-17 lead by halftime and won going away.


Assumption will take on Shawano (2-1) in the tournament championship game at 1:15 p.m. Saturday. Shawano defeated Marshfield Columbus Catholic 43-40 in the other semifinal on Friday.


Columbus will play Northland Lutheran in the third-place game at 11:30 a.m. Both games will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.
