APPLETON – Appleton East overcame a one-point halftime deficit to defeat Stevens Point 57-52 in a nonconference boys basketball game Saturday at East High School.


Stevens Point led 22-21 at halftime before East surged ahead in the second half, outscoring the Panthers by six points.


Nick Tuchscherer had 21 points and Damian Cejka added 14 for Stevens Point, which falls to 0-3 this season.


Zach Steigenberger led Appleton East (3-0) with 18 points.


Stevens Point hosts Chippewa Falls for a nonconference game Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
