ANTIGO SOFTBALL EARNS WALK-OFF WIN OVER MOSINEE

ANTIGO – Jenna Czerneski came home with the winning run on an error to help the Antigo softball team edge Mosinee 12-11 in a wild Great Northern Conference game Wednesday at Antigo High School.


Mosinee put up nine runs in the top of second inning to take a 9-4 lead, only to see Antigo come back and tie the game at 11-11 on an RBI triple by Mya Burt in the bottom of the sixth.


Burt finished 3-for-4 with a home run, the triple and four RBI to lead Antigo (5-3, 3-1 Great Northern Conference).


Mosinee (5-1, 4-1 GNC) suffered its first loss of the season despite smacking 16 hits, including six doubles.


Amber Gonzalez was 4-for-5 with two runs scored, and Hailey Shnowske drove in three runs with a pair of doubles for the Indians.


Mosinee’s next game is a nonconference contest at Edgar on Friday at 5 p.m.
