ALTOONA NAMES 2020 SCHOLAR ATHLETES

First in our series of Cloverbelt Conference 2020 Scholar Athletes

Nathan McMahon

I attribute my success to hard work and dedication. I have been very fortunate to have both coaches and teammates that believe in me as an athlete. I have teachers, friends and family that support and challenge me academically to achieve my educational goals. My experiences in high school will help to guide/direct me to be the best that I can be and work to the highest of my abilities and then push even higher and harder.

After graduation from high school I will be going to the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. I plan to major in nursing with a career path goal to be a nurse practitioner.

Kate Harris

The mindset I have acquired because of athletics, but in academics as well. I have learned to take similar approaches when dealing with my study habits and in school work. The skills such as time management, teamwork, leadership, attitude, and effort that I have because of athletics will enhance my ability to thrive in the world throughout and beyond college.

Although I have not completely decided on what career fits me best, I have decided that Physicians Assistant, Occupational Therapy, or Physical Therapy are best suitable for my future career. Throughout high school, I have taken classes covering topics for these careers which has helped me learn that I want to deal with these subjects for a future career. I am eager to attend college and take courses that I am passionate about.
