ALMOND – Almond-Bancroft remained on top of the Central Wisconsin Conference South Division boys basketball standings after defeating Pittsville 58-46 on Friday night at Almond-Bancroft High School.


The Eagles led 27-19 at halftime and were able to hold off Pittsville the rest of the way to improve to 14-5 overall and 8-1 in the CWC South. Almond-Bancroft has a one-half game lead of Stevens Point Pacelli in the conference standings with three games left on its CWC South schedule.


Jack Redmond scored 16 points to lead Pittsville, which falls to 5-10 and 2-5 in the conference.


Both teams return to action Tuesday. Pittsville hosts Spencer for a nonconference game, and Almond-Bancroft will be at home for a CWC South game against Tri-County.
