ALMA CENTER LINCOLN CRUISES PAST GREENWOOD IN DIVISION 5 GIRLS BASKETBALL REGIONAL

ALMA CENTER – Alma Center Lincoln jumped on Greenwood early and cruised to a 48-28 win in a WIAA Division 5 girls basketball regional quarterfinal Wednesday at Lincoln High School.


The third-seeded Hornets dominated the first half, taking a 36-10 lead into halftime to take control. Greenwood, the No. 14 seed in the regional bracket, outscored Alma Center Lincoln by six in the second half but couldn’t overcome the huge deficit.


Avry Wuethrich scored nine points for the Indians, who finish the season with a 4-20 record.


Liza Cummings scored 21 points for Alma Center Lincoln (18-5).


Lincoln will host No. 6 seed Eleva-Strum (10-12) in a Division 5 regional semifinal at 7 p.m. Friday.
