WISCONSIN RAPIDS LEGION BASEBALL SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER FROM VIROQUA

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Post 9 American Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader from Viroqua on Friday night at Lincoln High School to start its 2022 summer season on a good note.
The Rangers won 3-0 and 7-4 in the pair of Senior Legion nonconference games.
Braden Lewis and Jordan Tibbets combined on a three-hit shutout in the opener for the Rangers. Lewis struck out four in four innings, allowing just one hit, and Tibbets struck out two in three innings, giving up two singles.
Ashton Potter went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Ryan Sering and Canon Plawman also each drove in a run for Wisconsin Rapids, which had eight hits in the victory.
In Game 2, Wisconsin Rapids used a six-run fourth inning to bust open a 1-1 game and held on for the victory.
Lewis had two hits and scored twice, and Tibbets drove in a pair of runs in the win for the Rangers.
Eli Hahn picked up the win, allowing just one unearned run in four innings. Jacob Dekarske allowed three runs in the top of the sixth, but was able to finish off the victory with two innings pitched and two strikeouts.
Wisconsin Rapids hosts Marshfield for a Wisconsin Valley Legion League game Tuesday at 7 p.m.
