WISCONSIN RAPIDS LEGION BASEBALL SPLITS TWO GAMES AT HOME TOURNAMENT

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Rangers American Legion baseball team split a pair of games at its home tournament on Friday, losing to Onalaska 11-7 and defeating Altoona 7-4.


Onalaska pulled out to an 11-0 lead before Wisconsin Rapids finally got on the board with a six-run fifth inning to extend the game.


The Rangers added another in the seventh before Onalaska was able to finish off the victory.


Austin Junemann and Canon Plawman each had two RBI in the loss for Wisconsin Rapids.


Against Altoona, Freeman earned the victory for Rapids, allowing four runs in 5 2/3 innings. Carson Gunderson picked up the save, allowing just one baserunner while striking out two in the final 1 1/3 innings.


Junemann finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Braden Lewis and Caden Sengbusch each had two hits in the win for the Rangers (4-2).


The tournament will continue Saturday with the Rangers taking on De Pere at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
