WISCONSIN RAPIDS FOOTBALL DOWNS APPLETON WEST TO GRAB SHARE OF VFA TITLE

APPLETON – Leo Brostowitz ran for 193 yards and two touchdowns to lead Wisconsin Rapids to a 31-17 win over Appleton West in a Valley Football Association game on Friday night at Appleton West High School.
With the win, Wisconsin Rapids (6-3 overall) earns a share of the Valley Football Association championship, tying at 6-1 in conference play with Stevens Point and Wausau West. Appleton West finishes 4-5 and 2-5 in the VFA.
Adam Kaup kicked a 34-yard field goal in the first quarter to give the Raiders a 3-0 lead.
Brostowitz scored on touchdown runs of 2 and 43 yards, sandwiching a 72-yard punt return by Appleton West, and Caden Sengbusch ran in from 5 to put Wisconsin Rapids up 24-7.
Cooper Burdick added a 6-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for Rapids.
Wisconsin Rapids finished with 354 yards rushing and outgained West 386-123 overall in the victory.
The Raiders will head into WIAA postseason play next Friday, Oct. 22.
