WISCONSIN RAPIDS BOYS HOCKEY RALLIES PAST D.C. EVEREST

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids scored four unanswered goals to overcome an early two-goal deficit and defeated D.C. Everest 6-3 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey game Tuesday at the South Wood County Recreation Center.


Everest led 2-0 after first-period goals from John Freidel and Kole Ress before Wisconsin Rapids stormed back.


Michael McDonald had a goal and Carson Gunderson added three in a row to give the Raiders (8-4, 3-2 Wisconsin Valley Conference) a 4-2 lead.


After Parker Neitzke scored for the Evergreens (5-8, 1-4 WVC), McDonald and Dane Kubisiak scored late in the third period for Rapids to finish off the victory.


Both teams return to action Thursday. Wisconsin Rapids hosts Tomah/Sparta for a nonconference game and D.C. Everest will to Merrill to take on Wausau East/Merrill in a WVC matchup.
