WIAC FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: WHITEWATER, LA CROSSE REMAIN UNDEFEATED

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and UW-La Crosse football teams remained undefeated in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with road wins on Saturday.


Through three weeks of conference play, Whitewater and La Crosse are 3-0, River Falls and Stout 2-1, Oshkosh and Eau Claire 1-2, and Stevens Point and Platteville 0-3.


Games set for Saturday, Oct. 23, are Stout at La Crosse, Whitewater at River Falls, Eau Claire at Oshkosh, and Stevens Point at Platteville.


UW-Stout 37, UW-Stevens Point 12

MENOMONIE - Levy Hamer caught a pair touchdowns as Stout (5-1, 2-1 WIAC) built a 30-0 lead and cruised to the win.


Quarterback Sean Borgerding threw for 205 yards and a score, and ran for another for the Blue Devils.


Abbotsford High School graduate Joe Aguilera caught two late touchdown passes, and Markell Outlaw had eight catches for 78 yards for Stevens Point (2-4, 0-3 WIAC).


UW-La Crosse 24, UW-Platteville 23

PLATTEVILLE – Platteville missed an extra point after scoring a touchdown with 3:49 remaining in the game and dropped the home game by a point.


After Platteville tied the game at 17-17, Jake Simuncak returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown to give La Crosse (5-1, 3-0 WIAC) a 24-17 lead early in the third quarter.


Neither offense got it going again until late when Platteville (1-5, 0-3 WIAC) put together a 90-yard drive and Austin Guy caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Colin Schuetz. However, the Pioneers missed the extra point kick and La Crosse held on.

Schuetz completed 36 of 58 passes for 453 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw three interceptions for Platteville.


Joey Stutzman had 153 rushing yards and a score for La Crosse.


UW-Whitewater 32, UW-Oshkosh 13

OSHKOSH – Whitewater remained undefeated this season, using a 22-point second quarter to win at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh.

Justin Kasuboski hauled in a 2-yard touchdown pass from Kobe Berghammer late in the first quarter to give Oshkosh (3-2, 1-2 WIAC) the early lead, but it didn’t last for long.


Max Meylor threw a pair of touchdown passes to Tyler Holte and Alex Peete, Peete added a 1-yard TD run and the Warhawks (6-0, 3-0 WIAC) had a safety to open up a 22-7 lead by halftime.


Ryan Liszka added a 31-yard interception return in the final minutes for Whitewater.


UW-River Falls 41, UW-Eau Claire 24

EAU CLAIRE – River Falls quarterback Kole Hinrichsen ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns, and threw for 177 yards and another score as the Falcons (5-1, 2-1 WIAC) won the road.


Luke Fugate added 100 rushing yards and two more scores for River Falls.


Austin Belot had 119 yards rushing an a touchdown for Eau Claire (3-3, 1-2 WIAC).
