TWO-TIME DEFENDING STATE CHAMP LUXEMBURG-CASCO SWEEPS MOSINEE IN D-2 VOLLEYBALL SECTIONAL FINAL

LUXEMBURG – In a battle of No. 1 seeds, Luxemburg-Casco got the better of Mosinee, winning a WIAA Division 2 girls volleyball sectional final 3-0 on Saturday night at Luxemburg-Casco High School.


The Spartans (40-5) won 25-18, 25-21, 25-13, and will move on to the WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament next week at the Resch Center in Green Bay looking for a third-straight Division 2 state championship.


Mosinee finishes the season 33-4 after losing in the sectional final for the third-straight year.


Jessica Maurer had nine kills, Alexis Jonas had 19 assists and five kills, and Abbi Martin added eight kills and three blocks for Mosinee.


Jessica Brown had seven digs, Tristan Wicklund chipped in six digs, and Jenna Placek had three blocks as well for the Indians.


The Division 2 semifinals will be played Friday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m., and the championship match will be at 2:30 on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Resch Center.
