SUN PRAIRE USES QUICK START TO DEFEAT WISCONSIN RAPIDS FOOTBALL

SUN PRAIRIE – Sun Prairie returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and went on to build a quick three-touchdown lead on its way to a 49-21 win over Wisconsin Rapids in a nonconference football game Thursday at Sun Prairie High School.


The Cardinals added two long touchdown passes of 55 and 49 yards around a 10-yard touchdown run by Wisconsin Rapids’ Leo Brostowitz to take a 28-7 lead after one quarter.


Caden Sengbusch had a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter for the Raiders (0-2), but Sun Prairie ripped off three unanswered scores to regain control.


Philip Ross had a 1-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for Wisconsin Rapids to finish off the scoring.


Brostowitz ran for 185 yards as the Raiders racked up 324 yards on the ground.


Wisconsin Rapids will have a week off before hosting Wausau West in its Valley Football Association opener on Sept. 10.
