STRATFORD – The Stratford baseball team wrapped up no worse than a share for the Marawood Conference South Division championship, and finished off the week with a nonconference win as well, sweeping a pair of games on Thursday and Friday.

The Tigers defeated Auburndale 12-0 on Thursday at Auburndale High School to finish their Marawood South season with a 9-1 record, laying claim to a second-straight conference title. Edgar could still tie Stratford for first place as the Wildcats host Auburndale for a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Stratford whipped Merrill 12-2 in a nonconference game at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field in Stratford on Friday for its 10th win in a row.

On Thursday, Riley Bauman tossed a five-inning, four-hit shutout for Stratford, striking out six.

Dillon Kirsch had two hits and two RBIs, Max Vanderhoof drove in three, and Cam Daul and Tristan Wirkus each had two RBIs for the Tigers.

Sloan Welch and Aden Cherney both had two hits to account for Auburndale’s four singles in the game.

Kirsch allowed two runs in four innings to earn the win against Merrill, with Vanderhoof and Braden Schueller each driving in two for the Tigers.

Stratford will complete its regular-season schedule with nonconference games at home against Mosinee on Monday and Marshfield on Wednesday.
