MARSHFIELD – Stevens Point defeated Marshfield 6-1 in the final Wisconsin Valley Conference girls tennis dual meet of the season Thursday at the Boson Tennis Courts.

Marshfield’s only win came from Sonia Dissanayaka at No. 3 singles as she defeated Kylie Crow, 6-0, 6-1.

The Tigers finish the WVC season with a 3-3 record. Stevens Point ends up 5-1 and in second place in the conference standings.

Five of the six Stevens Point wins were in straight sets. The Panthers’ No. 3 doubles team of Ashley Smith and Mallory Greenwood needed three sets and two tiebreakers to beat Sam Ridgway and Danielle Minsaas 7-6 (4), 6-7 (2), 6-4.

The Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament will be Thursday, Sept. 30, at Wausau East.
