SPASH BOYS TENNIS DEFEATS WISCONSIN RAPIDS, STAYS UNDEFEATED IN WVC

STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point boys tennis team remained undefeated in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 6-1 win over Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday at Stevens Point Area Senior High.


Stevens Point won five matches in straight sets and the No. 3 doubles match by forfeit.


The Panthers move into a tie for first place with Marshfield in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 3-0 record. Those two teams meet at Marshfield on Thursday, May 12.


Wisconsin Rapids’ lone win came from Ryan Pidgeon at No. 4 singles, as he outlasted Winston Hill in three sets, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.


Stevens Point will compete at the Sun Prairie Invitational on Saturday. Wisconsin Rapids will host a quadrangular meet against D.C. Everest, Stevens Point Pacelli and Tomah on Saturday.
