PORT EDWARDS – The Port Edwards girls basketball team secured its first Central Wisconsin Conference South Division win of the season, downing Tri-County 47-33 on Friday night at John Edwards High School.
The Blackhawks started the game on an 8-1 run and used a 9-0 run to end the first half to extend their lead to 21-7.
The two teams played even in the second half as Port Edwards was able to hang on for the win.
Taylor Martin had 29 points, 10 steals and nine rebounds, and Melanie Sillars added 14 points for Port Edwards (5-16, 1-10 CWC South).
Port Edwards hosts Whitehall for a nonconference game on Monday.
