MERRILL – The Plover American Legion baseball team won its fourth-straight game, shutting out Merrill 10-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Legion League contest Tuesday at Athletic Park.
Plover (11-6) scored in all five of its at-bats, ending the game after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Marcus Jaworski tossed a complete-game shutout for the Black Sox, giving up just one hit and no walks, while striking out eight.
A leadoff double by Peyton Becker in the fourth inning was Merrill’s only baserunner of the game against Jaworski.
Tommy Drohner had three hits and three RBIs, Austin Beyer had a double and two RBIs, Caleb Meyer had three hits and drove in two, and Kaden Thauer had two hits and two RBIs for Plover.
Plover hosts Wisconsin Rapids at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park.
