PLOVER BLACK SOX LEGION BASEBALL ROUTS EVEREST IN SUMMER SEASON OPENER

PLOVER – Plover put together a pair of six-run innings and made quick work of D.C. Everest, winning the 2022 American Legion baseball season opener for both teams 16-4 on Friday night at Memorial Park.


Plover scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, and after Everest tied the game in the second, the Black Sox scored six times in the second and third innings to take control.


Plover added three in the fourth inning and finished off the win via the 10-run rule.


Kaden Thauer had three hits and five RBI, Ben Fonti and Brycen Cashin each drove in two runs, and leadoff hitter Tommy Drohner walked four times and scored four runs to pace the Black Sox offense.


Drew Kedrowicz allowed just one hit, but walked six and was touched up for four runs in four innings in picking up the win for Plover. He struck out eight.


Preston Miller had D.C. Everest’s only hit in the game.


Plover plays at Marinette on Saturday.
