PACELLI BOYS BASKETBALL SURGES PAST PORT EDWARDS

STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point Pacelli boys basketball team used a big second half to pull past Port Edwards for a 60-42 win in the regular-season and Central Wisconsin Conference South Division finales for both teams on Thursday at Pacelli High School.
The game was tied 23-23 at halftime before Pacelli owned the second half, outscoring the Blackhawks 37-19 to earn the victory and even its record at 12-12.
Jaydon Awe had a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the way for the Cardinals, who finish the CWC South season at 10-2 and in second place.
Port Edwards statistics were not reported. The Blackhawks finish the regular season at 15-9 overall and 8-4 in the CWC South.
Both teams open postseason play with WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinals on Tuesday. Port Edwards hosts Marion and Pacelli will be at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption. The Pacelli-Assumption game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
