STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield and Stevens Point American Legion baseball teams split a doubleheader on Wednesday at Bukolt Park, with Marshfield winning the opener 5-4 and Stevens Point taking the second game 6-1.
Marshfield scored four times in the top of the fifth inning to take a 5-0 lead in Game 1. After Stevens Point scored four times in the bottom of the inning, knocking out Blue Devils’ pitcher Kale Weisenberger. Dayne Diethelm got out of the inning and pitched a scoreless sixth and seventh to save the win for Weisenberger and Marshfield.
Colten Schillinger went 3-for-3 with an RBI, Logan Homolka drove in two runs, and Peter Earll, Diethelm and Riley Bauman each had two hits for Marshfield.
Marshfield led 1-0 as Carsten Jirschele shut down Stevens Point through four innings.
The Sixers got to him in the fifth, scoring twice. Stevens Point pulled away with a four-run sixth.
Benett Klish went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Isaac Cyshosz had two hits and two RBIs in the win for the Sixers (14-9).
Homolka and Nick Urban each had two hits for Marshfield.
