MARATHON BASEBALL OUTLASTS NEILLSVILLE IN WIAA DIVISION 3 REGIONAL SEMIFINAL

MARATHON – Brock Warren and Tyler Underwood each drove in a pair of runs as Marathon outlasted Neillsville 9-4 in a WIAA Division 3 baseball regional semifinal Tuesday at Marathon High School.


No. 2 seed Marathon (16-7) moves on to a Division 3 regional final at No. 1 seed Stratford (18-3) at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The game will be live at zaleskisports.com.


Drew Brown drove in a pair of runs in the top of the first inning to give Neillsville (13-3) a quick 2-0 lead, but Marathon would fight back, scoring four times in the third.


After Neillsville plated another run in the fourth, the Raiders scored three times in the fifth and added two more in the sixth to give themselves some cushion.


Jaden Koeller earned the win, going six innings and striking out eight.


Carson Opelt had a double, a triple and an RBI, and Bryce Erickson added two hits for the Warriors.
