PORT EDWARDS – Erik Mock drilled a 3-pointer from the top of the key in the final seconds to lift the Port Edwards boys basketball team to a 41-37 win over Alma Center Lincoln in a nonconference game Thursday at John Edwards High School.
Port Edwards led most of the game only to see Alma Center Lincoln take a 37-36 lead late. Mock countered with a 3-pointer with 5 seconds left, and after a missed shot, Nathan Gibbs rebounded, was fouled and hit two free throws to provide the final margin.
Brynden Beck had 16 points and Gibbs 14 for Pot Edwards (3-4). The 3-pointer by Mock was his only basket of the game.
Port Edwards plays a nonconference game at Tigerton at noon on Saturday.
