STEVENS POINT – Emma Jossie poured in a season-high 39 points and Zoe Fink added 26 as the Stevens Point girls basketball team shot its way past D.C. Everest 87-81 in a high-scoring Wisconsin Valley Conference affair Thursday night at Stevens Point Area Senior High.

Jossie made five 3-pointers, and Fink sank eight long balls, as well as grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists for Stevens Point in the victory.

Jossie finished the game 14-for-14 from the floor, setting a school record for best field goal percentage in a game. She was 9-for-9 on two-point attempts and 5-for-5 on 3-point attempts. The previous record was held by Janel Mc Carville, who was 10-for-10 on Dec. 8, 2000, against Marshfield.

Fink’s eight 3-pointers tied her own school record that she set Jan. 4, 2021, against Wausau East.

Avery Lilly chipped in 12 points for the Panthers, who are now 8-12 overall and 5-4 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference after winning their third game in a row.

“We were impressive offensively,” SPASH coach Kraig Terpstra said. “Emma Jossie and Zoe Fink put on a shooting display. It was really an exciting game to watch.”

Kiara Hammond, the leading scorer in the WVC, scored 34 points for D.C. Everest (8-13, 3-7 WVC).
