COLBY – Colby dominated the first half, rolling out to a 25-point lead, and held on from there to beat Greenwood 63-44 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener for both teams on Friday night at Colby High School.
Colby (1-1 overall) cruised out to a 42-17 lead by halftime as Lexi Krebsbach scored nine points, Olivia Vollrath added eight, and Emma Peavey had seven in the opening 18 minutes.
Greenwood made 16 of 22 free throws in the second half to outscore the Hornets, but couldn’t overcome the big halftime deficit.
Hailey Voelker finished with 19 points and Krebsbach added 17 for the Hornets.
Olivia Klabon had 14 points, and Maddi Raese and Amanda Bogdonovich each had 11 points for Greenwood.
Colby returns to action Tuesday at Marshfield Columbus Catholic, while Greenwood is off until Dec. 3 when it travels to Stanley-Boyd for a nonconference game.
