GILMAN - The Greenwood/Loyal (5-0) softball team beat Gilman (4-2) on the road Monday night to stay undefeated in the Cloverbelt East.
Greenwood/Loyal jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning courtesy of a Kayla Bremmer three-run home run to left field. The Greenhounds went down in order in the second and third innings. In the bottom of the third inning it was the Pirates putting up a crooked number on the scoreboard. Three hits, a walk, and two Greenhounds errors led to five runs across the plate for the Pirates as they took a 5-3 lead.
Greenwood/Loyal picked up a run via error in the fourth inning and then Zaida Brock had a three-RBI base hit in the fifth, followed by a Gracie North RBI knock to put the Greenhounds up 7-5.
After the teams traded runs in the sixth inning, the Greenhounds overcame two errors and two baserunners in the seventh. Kaitlyn Lindner induced a ground ball to Aspen Hagen at second, who made the final putout of the game unassisted.

Greenwood/Loyal continues its stretch of seven games in 10 days tonight at Stanley-Boyd with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.
