EAST/WEST'S YANG QUALIFIES FOR STATE, RAPIDS, MARSHFIELD GOLFERS COME UP SHORT AT D-1 GOLF SECTIONAL
GREEN BAY – Marshfield seniors Anna Weis and Morgan Meyer competed at the WIAA Division 1 girls golf sectional on Tuesday at Thornberry Creek Golf Club, failing to qualify for the state tournament.
Weis finished tied for 24th place with a 101 and Meyer tied for 30th with a 104.
The top two teams and top three individuals not on those teams qualify for the 2020 WIAA State Girls Golf Tournament at Meadow Valley Golf Course at Blackwolf Run in Kohler on Oct. 12-13.
Green Bay Notre Dame won the team title with a 350 and Hortonville finished second with a 375 to move on to the state meet.
Wausau East/West’s Jasmine Yang finished second with an 83, Kimberly’s Madeline Kiley tied for fourth with an 87, and Samantha Pendowski of Slinger shot an 89 to finish sixth to earn the individual spots at state.
East/West was fourth in the team standings, and Wisconsin Rapids finished sixth, with Dylan Gruszynski leading the way for the Raiders with a 93 and a 12th-place finish.
