COLBY – Owen-Withee outscored Colby by 20 points in the second half to overcome a 15-point halftime deficit and defeat the Hornets 59-54 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Thursday that was marred by fouls.
Owen-Withee committed 30 fouls and Colby was called for 29, with two players fouling out on each team.
The Blackhawks made 20 of 36 free throws, while Colby was just 17 of 39.
Reina Arndt scored 21 of her game-high 25 points in the second half to lead the comeback effort for Owen-Withee (2-1, 2-0 Cloverbelt East).
Kya Viegut scored 24 points for Colby, making 9 of 11 free throws. The rest of the team as just 8-for-28 at the line.
Both teams return to action Tuesday with Cloverbelt East matchups. Colby will play at Gilman and Owen-Withee will host Spencer.
