Delta defeated Mount Vernon 5-0 on Sept. 30 to wrap up its 20th Hoosier Heritage Conference championship, the most in any sport in conference history.
The No. 23 Eagles improved to 16-3 overall, with its only losses coming against nonconference state-ranked teams Fort Wayne Carroll (No. 7), West Lafayette (No. 16) and Hamilton Southeastern (No. 19).
Burris coach Steve Shondell recorded his 1,200th career victory Sept. 26 as the Owls swept Daleville 25-9, 25-11, 25-13. The national high school hall of famer has only 99 career losses for a winning percentage of .924.
Delaware County teams reached the end of their seasons in regional action Sept. 28.
In team action, Muncie Central finished 17th in the Lapel Regional, and Daleville was 18th. Teddi Bishop paced the Bearcats with 78, and Willoe Cunnington led Daleville with 94.
Among individuals, Victoria Hood of Wapahani shot 94, Bella LaPierre of Yorktown had 95, and Laura Fowler of Delta shot 98.
