DELTA 27, MOUNT VERNON 10
The Class 4A No. 5 Eagles remained unbeaten with another balanced attack on offense and defense. Delta shut out Mount Vernon in the second half to pull away from a 17-10 halftime lead.
Delta got touchdowns from Wesley Stitt on a 24-yard run, Kyle Tempest on a 60-yard interception and Milachi Silmon on a 7-yard run. Zac Stanley kicked two field goals.
The Eagles (5-0, 3-0 Hoosier Heritage Conference) play at home Friday against New Castle, looking to win their first six games of the season since 2009.
YORKTOWN 32, NEW CASTLE 13
The Tigers claimed a big homecoming victory as they held a productive New Castle offense in check.
Reid Neal rushed for four touchdowns to lead the victory, and JJ Evans ran for a score from 7 yards. Neal finished with 75 yards rushing and completed 23-of-41 passes for 262 yards.
The Tigers rushed for 236 yards, led by Evans with 145.
Yorktown (3-2) will play Friday at Shelbyville.
INDIANAPOLIS ARSENAL TECH 48, MUNCIE CENTRAL 14
The Bearcats gave up 41 unanswered points after the score was tied 7-7 in the second quarter on the way to their fifth straight loss.
Shoka Griffin’s 5-yard touchdown run in the second period tied the score, but Central didn’t score again until Michael Goul tallied a 1-yard touchdown run late in the game.
The Bearcats will play at Kokomo on Friday.
SHENANDOAH 34, WES-DEL 8
Wes-Del trailed only 13-8 late in the first quarter, but couldn’t score the rest of the game as it fell to Shenandoah.
The Warriors’ only touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Evan Whitesell. He also caught a 2-point conversion pass from Eric Harlan.
Harlan completed 12-of-20 passes for 81 yards and rushed 18 times for 105 yards. Caeden McClaughry caught seven passes for 42 yards.
Wes-Del (1-4) will play at Monroe Central next Friday.
