D.C. EVEREST BASEBALL SWEEPS TWO FROM MARSHFIELD

SCHOFIELD – D.C. Everest walked off a win in Game 1 and cruised in the nightcap, sweeping a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball doubleheader against Marshfield 3-2 and 10-3 on Friday at D.C. Everest High School.
Nick Urban delivered an RBI double to score Carsten Jirschele to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning for Marshfield in the opener, only to see D.C. Everest win it in the bottom of the frame when Nick Cotter drove home Ben Adams with a double.
Marshfield led 3-0 after three innings of Game 2 as Logan Homolka knocked in a run and a Simon Slade double scored two.
The lead was short-lived as D.C. Everest struck for five runs in the top of the fourth and added five more in the final three innings to pull away.
Owen Latendresse and Keegan Bohlman each had two hits, Cotter drove in three runs, and Roman Maguire hit a home run for the Evergreens (11-6, 5-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
Trey Montalvo had three hits and Urban two in the loss for Marshfield (9-6, 4-4 WVC).
Marshfield is off until June 3 when it plays a doubleheader at Merrill.
