COLUMBUS CATHOLIC BASEBALL STAYS UNBEATEN WITH ROUT OF SPENCER

SPENCER – The Columbus Catholic baseball team had 12 hits and took advantage of six walks to defeat Spencer 16-3 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Thursday at Spencer High School.


The Dons pulled ahead 5-2 with a four-run second inning and put the game away by scoring nine runs in the sixth to end the game via the 10-run rule.


Emmitt Konieczny had three hits, three runs scored and three RBI to lead the way for the Columbus Catholic offense. Blake Jakobi, Grant Olson and Cole Timmler each added two hits, with Timmler and Cy Becker driving in two runs each for the Dons (5-0, 3-0 Cloverbelt East).


Olson earned the pitching win for the Dons, striking out two and allowing two runs in four innings.


Andrew Sieracki had a single, two doubles and three RBI for Spencer (1-5, 0-2 Cloverbelt East).


Spencer hosts Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Friday and Abbotsford/Colby on Monday in a pair of nonconference games. Columbus Catholic returns to action Monday with a Cloverbelt East game at Neillsville.
