BROOKFIELD CENTRAL COMPLETES COMEBACK TO TAKE DOWN MENOMONEE FALLS IN D1 STATE SEMI-FINAL
The second game of the day that came down to the final seconds, this time it was the final game of the day in the division 1 state semi-final which saw Brookfield Central get past Menomonee Falls, 51-50.
The #2 Menomonee Falls led by 10 points with 3:43 to go in the game, but that is when Brookfield Central went on their run scoring the 11 points of the game. Menomonee Falls had a chance to go up by three points in the final seconds, but after a missed free-throw allowed Brookfield Central to take it the length of the court and draw their own foul, Benett Murray sank both free-throws.
With 3.5 seconds left in the game Menomonee Falls went to their all-state player Seth Trimble who dribbled it the length of the court and had a runner from the top of the key that went halfway down the cylinder and then rolled around the rim twice and popped out.
The Brookfield Central Lancers were led by Andrew Rohde who finished with 21 points and eight rebounds in the winning and come from behind effort. Bennett Murray, who hit the game-winning free throws, finished with nine points and and three rebounds.
The Menomonee Falls Phoenix were led by Steven Clay who finished with 22 points and nine rebounds. Seth Trimble ended the night with 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Lancers are heading back to the state championship game and looking to claim their first title since 2019.
