AUBURNDALE BOYS BASKETBALL POWERS PAST MARATHON FOR SIXTH-STRAIGHT WIN

MARATHON – Auburndale made 18 of 26 free throws and held off Marathon 61-54 in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Tuesday night at Marathon High School.


Cooper Weinfurter was 9 of 10 at the free throw line and scored a game-high 21 points for Auburndale, which improves to 15-1 overall and 10-1 in the Marawood South as it won for the sixth-straight time.


Hunter Wright added 14 points and Fletcher Raab drilled three 3-pointers to score nine points for Auburndale.


Clarke Mouw had 16 points for Marathon (5-8, 5-6 Marawood South).


Auburndale is off for a week before hosting Edgar at Feb. 4.
