GILLETT – The Athens 8-man football team improved to 7-0 this season with a 60-14 rout of Gillett on Friday night.

Cooper Diedrich had touchdown runs of 55 and 57 yards on his only two carries of the game and Caleb Borchardt had 102 yards rushing on just four attempts and 16 and 57 yards touchdowns for the Bluejays.

Diedrich also returned the second-half kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown, ran a punt back 70 yards for a score, and threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Aiden Janke.

Kyler Ellenbecker added a 43-yard touchdown for Athens.

Athens will finish its season at Thorp on Friday, Oct. 15.
