ASSUMPTION SOFTBALL SHUTS OUT NEWMAN CATHOLIC

WAUSAU – Cristin Casey had four hits, and Sammy Nelson and Ava Schill each had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Wisconsin Rapids Assumption softball team to a 9-0 win over Wausau Newman Catholic in a Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday at Sunnyvale Park.


The Royals scored twice in the first and added three more in the second to give Schill more than enough.


The Assumption pitcher allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out 15 in a dominating performance.


Casey finished 4-for-5 with an RBI and five runs scored for the Royals, who are now 12-1 overall and 6-1 in the Marawood South.


Newman Catholic falls to 5-5 and 3-4 in the Marawood South.


The two teams meet again Thursday at Robinson Park in Wisconsin Rapids.
