ASSUMPTION GIRLS SOCCER KNOCKS OFF WISCONSIN HEIGHTS/BARNEVELD IN OT TO WIN DIVISION 4 REGIONAL

MAZOMANIE – Kendall Duellman scored with 27 seconds left in overtime to push the fourth-seeded Assumption girls soccer team to a 2-1 win over No. 1 seed Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld in a WIAA Division 4 regional final Saturday.


Assumption (11-0-2) moves on to a D-4 sectional semifinal at No. 2 seed La Crosse Aquinas (11-2-1) on Thursday, June 17.


Duellman scored in the 13th minutes to give the Royals a 1-0 lead.


Assumption’s advantage held for 53 minutes before Heights/Barneveld tied it up in the 75th minute.


Neither team scored in the final 15 minutes and the game headed to overtime, where Duellman scored with 27 seconds left in the first 10-minute period. Neither team scored in the final 10 minutes as Assumption held on.


Kate Eithun had 11 saves in goal for Assumption.
