ASSUMPTION GIRLS BASKETBALL MOVES ON TO SECTIONAL FINAL WITH WIN OVER INDEPENDENCE

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Assumption will be playing for a berth in the state tournament after defeating Independence 63-49 in a WIAA Division 5 girls basketball sectional semifinal on Thursday at Assumption High School.


No. 2 seed Assumption (13-8) will play a D-5 sectional final at No. 1 seed Wauzeka-Steuben (16-3) on Saturday.


Assumption used a 26-6 run to pull out to a 33-26 lead by halftime. The Royals were able to put the game away by making 8 of 11 free throws in the second half.


Emily Bohn scored 22 poitns and Ainara Sainz DeRozas added 17 for the Royals.


Ziy Conner led Independence (17-6) with 16 points.
