PORT EDWARDS – Almond-Bancroft, after falling behind early, outscored Port Edwards by 28 points over the final 23 minutes to earn a 47-23 victory in a Central Wisconsin Conference South Division girls basketball game Tuesday at Port Edwards High School.
Port Edwards led 10-6 with 5½ minutes to go in the first half, but the Blackhawks’ offense went silent for the next 13 minutes and Almond-Bancroft pulled away.
The Eagles led 14-10 at halftime and were able to pull away, outscoring Port Edwards 33-13 in the second half.
Lexie Dernbach had a game-high 13 points for Almond-Bancroft. Taylor Martin led Port Edwards with eight points.
Almond-Bancroft is now 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the CWC South. Port Edwards falls to 0-6 and 0-2 in conference play.
