ASSUMPTION SOFTBALL DEFEATS PACELLI, LACONIA TO IMPROVE TO 3-0

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Assumption softball team swept a pair of games at a home triangular on Saturday at Robinson Park, defeating Stevens Point Pacelli and Laconia by identical 7-4 scores.


In the win over Pacelli, Assumption scored three times in the bottom of the first inning to take a lead it would not relinquish.


Two errors, an RBI groundout by Maleia Kolo and an RBI double by Claire Nelson gave the Royals a quick 3-0 lead.


Sadie Galbreath and Nelson each had two hits, and Kolo and Anna Schooley both drove in a pair of runs in the victory for the Royals.


Assumption started strong against Laconia as well, scoring twice in the first and third innings to jump out to a 4-0 lead.


Cristin Casey went 3-for-4 and scored three times, and Galbreath and Schooley picked up two hits each, Kolo added two RBIs in the victory.


Macy Vollert won both games, with Ava Schill earning the save in each for the Royals.


Assumption (3-0) hosts Stratford in its Marawood Conference South Division opener Monday at 4:45 p.m. The game will be live at zaleskisports.com.
